The Lone Cypress tree is a remarkable tree on Pebble Beach, California, between Monterey and Carmel. Situated on a rocky outcrop, it endures the storms of the Pacific Ocean. Sailors used the tree as a natural landmark in the 19th century to navigate the dangerous waters near Carmel Bay. The tree is believed to have taken root around 1750, and is located close to the famous Pebble Beach golf course.
