Reflection of the Matterhorn on Lake Riffelsee (2757 m) on an autumn morning. This photo is a bit special because I had the opportunity to take it 3 years earlier. My lack of knowledge of the area at the time meant I missed this opportunity. i am so glad I came back!
Situated on the western shore of Lake Thun in Switzerland, the town of Spiez offers a magnificent view of hills and vineyards. Its castle illustrates the various stages of transformation from medieval fortress to residence.
The 5-lake trail above Zermatt is particularly pleasant in October. The permanent view of the Matterhorn (4478 m) and the passage through a superb larch forest offer a magnificent contrast that these black-collared goats from the Valais also seem to appreciate.
Zermatt is a charming village and ski resort in the Valais region of Switzerland, at an altitude of 1620 m. The region is home to 38 of Switzerland's 54 4000+ peaks, including the majestic Matterhorn (4478 m). The resort culminates at 3883 m and is the highest ski lift in Europe.
Oeschinensee is a magnificent glacial lake located at an altitude of 1579 m in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It gets its blue color from the glacial torrents that feed it from the surrounding mountains over 3500 m above sea level.
Located at an altitude of 2537 m, Lake Stellisee offers a direct view of the magnificent Matterhorn. On windless days, the mirror effect is breathtaking. This lake is part of the 5-lake hike, which is particularly beautiful in mid-October when the larch trees take on their flamboyant yellowish hues.
